Website Content Tips Everyone Should Follow
While researching for the SEO Workshop presented at CEED this November, I ran across this excellent article on How To Write Website Content.
Making your content stand out for both human and search engines is a task best performed by following the simple copyrighting tips.
I’d summarize it by saying,
- Use your own content
- Engage your audience concerns
- Write like you speak
Content Writing Tips For SEO
Have a goal for your optimized page while writing website content. After having optimize for your target phrase, you want to have an action defined and a way for visitors to complete that action.
In other words, ask visitors to signup for updates and have a signup form or a link to it on your page.
Use Your Content
No one knows your business better than you! Even if you have your content written by a professional or third party, make sure it’s uniquely your content. Never copy and paste other people’s words.
This is especially important for three reasons:
- Google (and other search engines) penalize for copying other content
- It’s illegal
- You can be sued
Your content is your message to your clients and customers. Give her something worth coming to your site page. Not the same old rehashed fluff she can read anywhere on the web.
SEO content writing is about motivating, encouraging and helping her make a decision on a purchase or service. Let her know you’re an expert and how you can help.
Why Your Audience Will Buy Your Products
- Grab your audience attention with a headline that speaks to a solution or problem.
- Focus your content on the solution. Reassure audience your solution is best.
- Ask them to act on your suggestion.
- Offer to give them more information.
Engage your audience concerns immediately, show them you have a solution and they will act.
Write like you speak when ever possible
This suggestion is designed to help you engage with clients in a more personal way. Using short sentences.
Even using line spacing to pause… for effect. Great grammar isn’t needed when you can get your message across.
The author of How To Write Website Content may disagree with me on this point, but that’s ok. What is important is grabbing and keeping your audience’s attention while providing a way for them to perform a specific action which you have set as the page’s goal.
